After attending Hollings College, Manchester (part of the University of Manchester faculty), Geoff joined Forte Hotels, ultimately working in all hotel departments across all of the UK brands, including the role of Rooms Division Manager and subsequently General Manager, of a 320 bedroom Central London 4 Star Hotel.
He later became involved in the acquisition across to the Regal Hotel Group. Responsible for the project management of a major redevelopment that Regal was undertaking as part of winning the Master Franchise for Carlson Hospitality Inc to roll out Country Inns & Suites within the UK and Europe.
In 1998, Geoff, with his particular branding skills and knowledge obtained in the USA, was asked to become a lead member of a small team set up to establish a new UK brand which Regal needed to develop, Corus hotels.
After the success of launching the initial 29 Corus branded hotels in the UK in 1999, Geoff used his expertise to roll out the brand in 5 hotels in Malaysia and Australia.
During this period, he took on a role in property development. As well as being responsible for the disposal of 35 hotels, the role involved site acquisition and carrying out feasibility studies on potential new developments and extensions to hotels.
In late 2004, with his varied background and expertise, Geoff was approached for the role of Operations Director with Four Pillars Hotels, a small successful group of, predominantly, 4 Star hotels in the Oxford/Cotswolds area. He carried out this role for 2 years before setting up his own business.
Since then, Geoff has been running and developing G&R Hospitality Solutions, a specialist consultancy company working in the hospitality industry. He is also the Operations Director for the HOSPACE annual conference held in London.
Geoff has achieved the PRINCE2® Practitioner qualification in Project Management.
